The lecture Star Wars im Alltag (Star Wars in everyday life) describes how Star Wars films have crept into all corners of modern everyday life: in film and television, in speeches, products, headlines the lightsaber, the film heroes from Vader to Yoda or the farewell “May the Force be with you” have long since become part of the world’s cultural heritage and appear everywhere. The lecture detectively uncovers these traces – no matter how small they may be. Traces of Star Wars are presented briefly and above all entertainingly in pictures, video and anecdotes, from the loving references to the audacious freeloading. Always with a wink. And there are always surprising finds – or who would have thought that traces of Star Wars could even be found on the socks of a prime minister or in police reports?

Lecturer: Constantin Gillies
Duration: 45 min  -  The Lecture will be held in: german
Constantin Gillies has seen Krieg der Sterne in 1978 in the cinema. He was eight then, the movie from 12 and his father simply great. That's why he gave him a Commodore 64 in 1983. This was followed by a youth wasted in front of the computer, which the journalist has dealt with in his "Extraleben" novel series. The books are now regarded as cult reading and have a large fan base. Constantin Gillies works as a freelance journalist and author in Bonn. His latest books are "Elterndeutsch" (Ullstein, 2018) and "00:01" (CSW-Verlag 2018). He also wrote the non-fiction book "Die Macht mit uns" (Rowohlt-Verlag), which outlines the pop cultural consequences of Star Wars.
