AI – From SciFy to Reality

From Cylons to Hosts in Westworld, Artificial Intelligence is an integral part of our SciFi multiverses. These shows ask the hard questions like “Can we control Cylons through the right coding?” or “Are AIs in Westworld conscious?”.

In the lecture AI – From SciFy to Reality we will bring the latest Silicon Valley AI tech to FedCon 33 and address those questions. First, we’ll use excerpts from a SciFi show to pose the problem, explain the current state of AI tech and then present videos demoing current AIs. In this practical and SciFi way, we’ll address the hard questions both through the stories and characters of our beloved SciFi shows but also through the actual science and engineering of AIs. You’ll gain an introductory knowledge of “Deep Learning” – the AI technology behind Alexa and Google. You will know what a Singularity is, how to address philosophical AI questions and – essential to your survival – have an inkling on how to stop our destruction by Terminators.
