This will be fun again: Dr. Hubert Zitt will ask Dr. Dr. Gert Mittring for the 2nd time at FedCon (mostly new) math problems about Star Trek and other interesting topics from the science fiction world, which he will solve live and without technical aids on stage.
The two Doctors combine fun with science in their joint panel and will show that Spock’s estimates are better than anyone else’s calculations.
Dr. Dr. Gert Mittring is eleven-time world champion in mental arithmetic and two-time Olympic champion in lightning arithmetic. He calculates faster in his head than a "normal" person can type numbers into a calculator. Gert Mittring has been a frequent guest on television programs, has written several books, and works as a freelance scientist in gifted diagnostics.
Dr.-Ing. Hubert Zitt studied electrical engineering and works as a lecturer in the computer science program at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences at the Zweibrücken campus. In addition to his "normal" teaching activities, Hubert Zitt has become known throughout Germany (and beyond) for his Star Trek lectures.
Together with Gene Roddenberry jr., the son of the Star Trek creator, Zitt wrote the foreword to the book Star Trek in Deutschland in 2008. In the fall of 2008, he taught "Physics of Star Trek" as a regular course for an entire semester at a university in San Antonio, Texas.
In the meantime, Hubert Zitt has given more than 400 Star Trek lectures and participated in several TV shows about Star Trek. He has been a regular guest at FedCon since 2005 and was honored by his agency "5-Star Speaker" with the award "Most Extraordinary Speaker of the Year" for 2012.
