Film locations – curse and blessing at the same time!

We had already given two presentations (“Setjetting, the better vacation”) at FedCon 27, where we had dealt with the topic of film locations as a reason for vacation. Now we have been on several vacations at different film locations and can report about them. Many locations have become very dear to us, others have surprised us very much, or were partly dangerous when visiting. These are all stories that can be told and, of course, richly illustrated.

A second aspect is the new way of watching movies and series. Now that you know some film locations that are very much used in various films and series, this can more often “aha effects” or even somewhat disenchant the myth of film. But even if you are standing at the location of the film event, it can be a curse and a blessing at the same time, but in any case it is always a little adventure.

In the lecture Film locations – curse and blessing at the same time! we can serve the most diverse genres: from Star Wars to classics of the 80s, series and also horror to very current productions.

We: Martin Reibe, Marcus Machoy and Alexander Köhler are film friends. We know each other for over 15 years now and have been in the "film location scene" for 6 years.

Since all three of us are fans of the movies of the 80's and 90's and of course they were shot in the USA, that is then our hunting ground. Our taste in movies has similarities, but also differences. And that makes the choice of locations very colorful. But even if you don't know the movie, or don't 100% like the genre, filming locations can still create beautiful shared experiences that we are very happy to share.

To that end, we've also featured some stuff on our travel and nerd blog, and it even inspired us to do a little spontaneous movie homage on one of our USA vacations.
