In doing so, she not only made Star Trek history but also portrayed the first female captain in a leading role in a Star Trek series. She later returned to the franchise as Janeway in <em>Star Trek: Prodigy<\/em>, among other appearances &#8211; this time as a hologram and admiral.<\/p>\n<p local-id=\"fa37ee20cad9\">But <strong>Kate Mulgrew<\/strong> is capable of much more than Starfleet. She made a name for herself early on with series such as <em>Ryan&#8217;s Hope<\/em> and <em>Mrs. Columbo<\/em>. She has also been active as a voice actress in a wide variety of productions, including the 2025 Disney Pixar film <em>Elio<\/em>. She became known to a new audience as Galina &#8220;Red&#8221; Reznikov in the hit series <em>Orange Is the New Black<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p local-id=\"749c7196cd7f\">Whether as a captain, hologram, or hot-tempered prison cook &#8211; <strong>Kate Mulgrew<\/strong> has proven for decades that she is at home in a wide range of roles.
