Actor, director, producer, writer and educator LeVar Burton returns to Bonn for FedCon 32!
In 1986, Gene Roddenberry approached LeVar Burton with the role of then-Lieutenant Geordi La Forge in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation, rising to the position of Chief Engineer in Season 2. At that time he was better known in the US than Patrick Stewart, due to his role in Roots and Reading Rainbow. With this character, Burton also starred in various Star Trek theatrical films. And for the popular third season of Star Trek: Picard, the German-born actor returned to his role as Geordi La Forge.
In the course of his career to date, LeVar Burton has appeared in numerous series and feature films. In addition, he was, among other things, host and executive producer of the children’s series Reading Rainbow, which started in 1983 for PBS. The series ran for 23 seasons, making it one of the longest running children’s programs. In addition, the series received over 200 broadcast awards during its run, including a Peabody Award and 26 Emmy Awards. Burton himself won 12 Emmy Awards as host and producer of the show.
In addition to his acting work, he has also directed episodes of Charmed, JAG, Las Vegas and Soul Food: The Series, for example, as well as the miniseries Miracle’s Boys and the documentary The Tiger Woods Story.
FedCon 32 will also feature Mica Burton, LeVar’s daughter in “real life” and also in the series universe of Star Trek: Picard.
