After the great success of the first Scientific Roundtable at last year’s FedCon, literary scholar Dr. Rebecca Haar, biologist Bettina Wurche, Dr. “Trek” Hubert Zitt, media and film scholar Andreas Rauscher and media journalist Reinhard Prahl are coming together as moderators for round two of the popular format.

This time, our experts are bringing a hotly debated topic to the table: “Posthumanism in Star Trek”. In a convivial round, we will discuss the question of whether Data is truly a person in a philosophical, sociological and biological sense, to what extent the Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager can be considered a person, and what personal rights the Borg are entitled to as cyborg beings. Of course, the participants will also answer the hopefully numerous questions from the audience, which they are eagerly looking forward to.

Dr. Rebecca Haar, a media, cultural and literary scholar, is a familiar face at FedCon and has been guiding the audience through complex and exciting topics of well-known fantasy franchises for years.

Bettina Wurche is a marine biologist and science journalist. She has also been a great success at FedCon for a long time, giving entertaining and informative lectures on highly interesting topics.

Not much needs to be said about Dr. Hubert Zitt. The electrical engineer and physicist is not only a popular guest at FedCon, but also presents his lectures on television, where he brings his topics to the audience with great expertise and intelligent humor.

Dr. Andreas Rauscher is a media scientist and known to fans mainly through his eloquent works such as “The Star Trek Phenomenon – Virtual Spaces and Metaphorical Expanses”.

Reinhard Prahl is a media journalist, author and writer and also known to fans for his lectures on the subject of archaeology in fantastic films.
