Let’s talk TREK!

The podcasters from Planet Trek fm, Claudia Kern, Christian Humberg, and Björn Sülter, are once again inviting Trekkies to a discussion and large group therapy session for Trekkies, by Trekkies, and with Trekkies. The three will engage in a lively, open, honest, and fair discussion with the audience on an exciting topic that will be announced at FedCon 34, and will try to find consensus even on difficult issues that often lead to disputes, especially online. Because that’s what Star Trek should be all about, right? Talking to each other, listening to each other, accepting arguments, and seeking and finding common solutions. Claudia Kern, Christian Humberg, and Björn Sülter look forward to seeing you and may even welcome a surprise guest or two on stage. In any case, let’s talk TREK!

About the podcasters from Planet Trek fm

SPIEGEL bestselling author Björn Sülter is a publisher, author, journalist, translator, speaker, podcaster, and one of Germany’s leading experts on Star Trek. As an author, he is known for Es lebe Star Trek (Long Live Star Trek), Die Star-Trek-Chronik (The Star Trek Chronicle), the science fiction novel Yula und die Sterne (Yula and the Stars), and the thriller Krieg in der Ostsee (War in the Baltic Sea). As editor-in-chief, he oversees “Geek!” and “TV-Klassiker” as well as the “Planet Trek” portal. In “Streaming Serienhighlights,” he has been presenting his column “Sülters Warpkernkette” for many years. He translates (e.g., “Das Illustrierte Handbuch” on TNG/DS9/Voyager, “Star Trek Cocktails,” “Die Gegner in Star Trek,” “Star Trek: Zeit des Wandels,” comics, other non-fiction books, and novels), narrates audiobooks (“Q sind herzlich ausgeladen,” “Ein Stich zur rechten Zeit”), and hosts events.

Multiple bestselling author Claudia Kern has written countless novels, pulp novels, award-winning translations, and other works. In the field of journalism, she has written numerous non-fiction books and has been writing the column “Kernspaltereien” in ‘SpaceView’/”Geek!” since 1999. In 2018, she was awarded the Kurd Laßwitz Prize for Best Translation. She also translates computer games, TV series, and novels. Together, Björn and Claudia are also the team behind “Planet Trek fm.”

Bestselling author Christian Humberg has been working since the late 1990s as a freelance author of novels, comics, non-fiction books, and plays for children and adults, as well as a literary translator and editor.

The trained book scientist and journalist repeatedly ventures into the world of pop culture. He writes comic book adventures exclusively for Hollywood for the young heroes from “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Hotel Transylvania,” pens internationally acclaimed novels from the “Star Trek” universe, and writes exciting adventures with Perry Rhodan. He translates the voyages of the Starship Enterprise into German and has already edited a certain Doctor Who.

At the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2015, he was awarded the German Fantasy Prize. Today, Humberg’s columns and short stories appear nationwide in the press, as well as in S. Fischer Verlag publications and on http://SYFY.de .

As the author of successful children’s book series-including “Drachengasse 13,” “Sagenhaft Eifel!,” “Die Wächter von Aquaterra” (The Guardians of Aquaterra) and “Die unheimlichen Fälle des Lucius Adler” (The Eerie Cases of Lucius Adler) – Humberg reads at schools, libraries, literature festivals, and conventions throughout Germany. There he talks about his life as an author and willingly shares insights into his professional life. He also teaches creative writing to young authors on behalf of several cultural institutions.

Christian Humberg’s works reach readers all over the world, having already been translated into nearly a dozen foreign languages, including English, Turkish, and Russian. They have been adapted for the stage many times and have won numerous awards. Humberg lives in front of a computer monitor that blocks his view of the Eifel Forest.
