FedCon 34 | Specials | Kobayashi Maru - Kurzfilm-Premiere

The short film Kobayashi Maru tells the story of a young woman who suddenly wakes up on the bridge of a Starfleet ship and has no idea how she got there. On board, she meets Captain Pike, Mr. Spock, and many other familiar faces from the Star Trek universe.
The film is about science fiction fans and the “what if” question of what would happen if a sci-fi fan had the opportunity to experience what many dream of, namely piloting a spaceship and then meeting the heroes of their childhood. A FANtastic adventure, in other words.
In this short film, after 58 years, the last living actor from Raumpatrouille Orion, Friedrich G. Beckhaus, appears, slipping back into his Orion role at the age of 96.
Bavaria Film approved the shoot and gave the team the original film footage of the Orion bridges (without actors) from 1966, so that the Orion actor could be seen as he was in the film back then.
The film was directed by Rene von Bodisco, who also produced the fan film series Borg War in the 1990s. The film’s VFX supervisor is Ante Dekovic, who worked on Star Trek Picard and Discovery.
The film was produced by Rene von Bodisco, Dirk Bartholomä, Jelena Borowski, and Aaron Le, with the screenplay written by Olaf Lemitz.
The music is by Tiffany Gauger (Key West Music).
All three fan film groups from Germany (Loreley, Euderion, and Starfleet Legends) appear in the film. Benjamin Schulz from Loreley is also part of the film’s VFX team. Sebastian Bittins shot the Orion scene as cinematographer.
The leading roles are played by Aaron Le (Rentnercops) and Laura Fernandez (Der letzte Bulle).
The Star Trek cosplayers, such as Jens Dombek as Spock, are voiced by the original Star Trek dubbing actors: Sascha Rothermund voices Captain Pike, Arne Stephan voices Mr. Spock, Anke Reitzenstein voices Seven of Nine, Benjamin Stöwe voices Robert Vogel, and Björn Sülter voices the opener of a special scene in the film.
The set of the starship bridge is located in Berlin, the Orion was filmed in a green screen studio, and a special scene in the film was shot on the set of Babylon Berlin.
In addition to 60 years of Star Trek, Raumpatrouille Orion is also celebrating this anniversary. Kobayashi Maru is the best tribute to both franchises.
Kobayashi Maru celebrates its FANtastic premiere at FedCon 34, with cast, cosplayers, and team.
