FedCon and MagicCon – Corona update

After intensive research and taking into account the latest developments in the context of the corona pandemic measures, it has become inevitable that MagicCon (currently 24 – 26 July 2020) will also be held at a later date. Currently we are trying to fix a date in November 2020 with the Maritim Hotel Bonn. As soon as this is confirmed, we will of course communicate this immediately.

Here is some important information on the extension of the ban on major events (according to the decision of 17.06.2020):

The Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia states that an event has the character of a major event if at least 100,000 visitors are expected, more than 5,000 visitors are on the site at the same time or there is a particularly high risk potential.

Our events count a maximum of 1,200 – 1,500 guests over the whole weekend. Furthermore, from 01.07.2020, events in NRW are to be permitted up to 500 persons and in special cases also here without a minimum distance, if proof of the origin of the participants is given and fixed seats (such as in our main hall) are allocated and the mouth and nose protectors are worn.

Of course it was a shock moment for us as organizers when we heard about the extension. BUT, as I said, there is a very clear definition. Our events do not even come close to the mentioned upper limits (5,000 people per day). We are in constant contact with the Maritim Hotel Bonn and the city of Bonn and will continue to refine our security concept and adapt it if necessary.

With regard to FedCon 29, we currently assume that it will take place as planned from 9 – 11 October 2020. For Magic Con 4, the above mentioned information counts.
