For the 16th time it’s time for the members of the German Garrison to “go to FedCon“. We have been regular guests here since 2002. For many of us it is the event highlight of the year. The Imperial presence has developed continuously since 2002. Initially only a dozen Troopers, then strengthened by its own stand, until 2015, when the German Garrison rocked FedCon with two booths and up to 120 members.
We will be there again in 2018 with a booth. There you can see how the members of the German Garrison make imperial costumes. You can find out about the workshop times at our booth. And for all friends of the Star Wars parody Spaceballs we present this time a “Mr. Coffee”/”Mr. Radar” scene.
The German Garrison was founded in August 2000, 18 years ago, by 10 costume-enthusiastic Star Wars fans as a German section of the 501st Legion. We came together to have fun together, to pursue our passion for faithful costumes and to keep the Star Wars saga alive. Through various appearances we have made a name for ourselves not only in Germany but also outside the German borders.
Today the German Garrison is one of the strongest and most active units of the 501st Legion. In 2017 we were able to welcome the 700th member to our ranks. The 501st Legion currently consists of approximately 12,000 members worldwide with approximately 22,500 registered costumes. It operates in 61 countries worldwide, organized in outposts and garrisons. With our club colleagues from America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia, we even made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2008. Any member of the German Garrison/501st Legion who is at least 18 years old and has an imperial costume true to the film can become a member.
Further information about the German Garrison and the membership can be found on our homepage www.501st.de under the menu item “Mitgliedschaft”.
